Phase 8: Performance Agreement
This should be drawn up and presented to your new employee on their very first day. Remember that your new hire has already had an opportunity to do some or all of the job in the interview and you will have continued to discuss the work to be done at some length during the offer management communication process. The new hire will be charged up and ready to go.
Before they get stuck in, take some time to set out the challenges ahead, the goals and objectives to be achieved and what success looks like. Make them very specific and make sure they are measurable. There will be no surprises if they closely mirror the items listed in the job specification.
Have them agree what is acceptable and what outstanding performance looks like and get them to sign up to it.
The LBA Hiring Management System includes a New Employee Performance Agreement template to capture and record this agreement.
