Phase 6: Post Interview Evaluation

This now becomes a simple task. You have seen the potential candidates in action and it will now be obvious who is the outstanding candidate for the job. If it isn’t, the hiring system has broken down somewhere or you haven’t seen the right person.

In attempt to stop hiring managers making decisions based on first impressions or gut feel, organisations have introduced complex evaluation systems, often involving some sort of grading or scoring system. If you’ve conducted the correct type of interview that is to get the candidate to perform the job with you in the interview, these systems are not necessary. They are just more numbers to hide behind when the hire doesn’t work out!
